Provides excellent customer service by helping customers find books, recommending titles, operating the cash register, restocking shelves, merchandising displays, and maintaining store cleanliness, blending direct sales with operational tasks to create a positive shopping environment. Key duties include greeting customers, answering questions, processing transactions, managing inventory, and keeping the sales floor organized and inviting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Assistance: Greet customers, answer questions, locate specific books or merchandise, and offer personalized recommendations.
  • Sales & Transactions: Process sales, returns, and exchanges at the Point-of-Sale (POS) system, handle cash and credit transactions accurately.
  • Merchandising: Stock shelves, price new inventory, arrange displays, and ensure the sales floor is neat and attractive.
  • Inventory Management: Unpack new shipments, assist with data entry, and help with stock counts.
  • Store Operations: Answer phones, assist with general office tasks, and maintain store cleanliness and organization.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enthusiasm for books and reading.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Cash handling experience (preferred).
  • Problem-solving abilities for customer issues.

Typical Work Environment

  • A dynamic, customer-facing role within a retail bookstore.
  • Involves standing for extended periods, lifting, and moving merchandise.
  • Often requires multitasking between assisting customers and physical stocking duties.

     

    Work Schedule and Typical Daily Duties:

    Monday-Friday 8a.m. - 4p.m.
