Job Summary
Westside Cleaners is an award-winning dry cleaner in Jupiter, FL since 1988. Our spotter is retiring, and we are seeking a new dry cleaning spotter to start immediately. We will train the right person. Pay ranges from $16 to $25 per hour. This is steady work 5 days/week, Monday - Friday, starting 6:30 AM through about 10 AM or noon. Hours depend on store traffic and time of year. This means, if you are new to this business, you can earn learn one of the most important and stable jobs in this industry, get steady income plus bonuses, and enjoy your afternoons and some extra time off in the summers.

The right person may be a spotter today at a dry cleaner near Jupiter (or prepared to move immediately to start work).

Or, maybe you are a technician or skilled tradesperson -- someone who works with their hands and has a sharp visual sense. You care about quality, you enjoy following steps to get a result. Maybe your hobbies are in computers, crafts, artwork, or music.

This job involves a real eye for colors, clothes and fabrics, and using your hands and creativity to remove spots, decide how best to clean and process a garments, and to renew the customer's clothing to make it good as new.

What if I have no experience but would be skilled at this job?

Dry cleaning is not glamorous. But it is steady work minding details and takes creativity. It is a great business for people who like to start the day early, enjoy their afternoons, and have reliable, steady schedules and income.

If we both decide this is right for you, you will be trained intensely on the job for about 3 weeks. Over about 2-3 months, you will become proficient to very good. You'll then get raises as you show independence and skill.

This position requires a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, the physical ability to stand for long periods, to speak and read English, to work with mostly push-button kinds of machines as well is with your hands using. You must be courteous and respectful to other employees. You bring experience showing you can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Experience in dry cleaning or hospitality settings is preferred, but we are willing to train the right individual.

 

What you will do

• Identify and inspect stains: The spotter examines garments to determine the types of stains and the appropriate method for removal.
• Apply chemical treatments: You apply specific chemical spotters designed for different stains (e.g., oil, blood, ink) to the affected area.
• Use specialized equipment: You will use our Realstar dry cleaning machine which is silicone based (not PERC or PRE chemicals). This means you will be taught or know how to operate a commercial dry clean machine, learn or understand the steps and processes, and have attention to the steps. You'll pre-work garments on the spotting board and spray steam or air onto stains.
• Flushing and drying: Use steam to flush out the chemical and stain, then use air to dry the area, which helps prevent the stain from reappearing as a watermark.
• Ensure quality and safety: Spotters must have knowledge of different fabrics and stain types to avoid damage. We will train the right person, but ideally you understand this role and you enjoy the care, detail and steps of doing it. You must follow safety protocols, as you will handle chemicals and couture clothing -- both needing certain careful steps..
• Record keeping: You will keep track of garments that have been treated and the chemicals used.

 

Qualifications

• Previous experience in dry cleaning, laundry services, or hospitality is desirable but not necessary.
• Ability to speak and understand English.
• Documentation to work in the USA.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
• Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

 

Pay & other benefits

• Range: $16/hr. - $25/hr.
• If you currently are a successful spotter, pay and other incentives will be offered.
• If you are new, starting pay would be $16 to $18 as we assess and train you for the role. Your pay would increase soon, presuming you learn the role and have the skills.
• RELOCATION: For the right person already working as a spotter, we are open to some kind of relocation to help you make the leap to beautiful Jupiter FL area.
