Company Description BlueScope Recycling is a full-service, ferrous scrap metal recycler with processing facilities in Waterloo, IN, Delta, OH, and Mansfield, OH. BlueScope Recycling buys scrap from industrial generators, wholesale suppliers, and the general public, focusing on delivering the highest level of service.
Summary: The primary role of Driver I is to provide timely, efficient, safe, and courteous hauling service to suppliers and/or customers along an assigned route.
Duties and Responsibilities: (CDL Class A Restricted or CDL Class B) - Operate a Class A commercial vehicle to transport scrap metal and materials within the recycling yard and to external locations. This will include a straight truck without a trailer (Class B)
- Safely maneuver and navigate within the recycling yard, which may include tight spaces and varying terrain.
- Assist in loading and unloading scrap metal onto trucks using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or cranes.
- Ensure secure placement and balancing of loads to maintain safety during transport.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while operating equipment and handling materials.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to prevent hazards and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Complete necessary paperwork and shipment documentation, including weight tickets, manifests, and vehicle inspection reports.
- Conduct basic maintenance checks on vehicles and equipment, promptly reporting issues to maintenance staff.
Required Qualifications: - 1+ year of experience with a valid Class A Restricted or Class B Commercial Driver's License or current employment at BlueScope Recycling with good performance working toward obtaining CDL.
- Experience driving commercial vehicles, preferably in a scrap recycling or similar industry.
- Ability to operate forklifts or other loading equipment safely.
- Knowledge of safety regulations related to the transportation and handling of scrap materials.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to complete paperwork accurately.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects as needed.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in the scrap metal industry preferred.
- Experience with semi-end-dump, semi-roll-off, flatbed, van, and tin trailers.
- No transmission restrictions.
