A Sign Language Interpreter position is available in Escanaba, MI, supporting two 4th-grade students at an elementary school during the current school year (CSY) on a contract basis. This role requires providing effective interpretation services for academic instruction and school activities to ensure clear communication for students utilizing American Sign Language (ASL).

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide sign language interpretation for two 4th-grade students throughout the school day (8:00 AM to 3:00 PM).
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and staff, ensuring accessibility to classroom content.
• Support one student who has a cochlear implant by adapting interpretation techniques as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and promote an inclusive learning environment.
• Collaborate with educational staff to accommodate individual student learning needs.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language with demonstrated interpreting skills.
• Experience working with children in educational settings preferred.
• Familiarity with communication needs of students with cochlear implants is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently within a classroom environment.
• Commitment to punctuality and consistent attendance during school hours.
