AvMed, a division of Sentara Health Plans in the Florida market, is hiring a Senior Underwriter- Remote! This is a full-time permanent position (40 hours) with standard working hours from 8:30am to 5:30pm EST, Monday to Friday. The role involves accurately developing employer group rates, working with the sales department to finalize rates and develop appropriate benefit alternatives, and acting as a mentor/advisor to Underwriters and Underwriting Trainees. The position handles cases with the highest level of complexity. The job is remote with opportunities available in multiple states including Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington (state), West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of underwriting experience in health insurance, with experience in large group underwriting (51+ employees) and preferred experience in prospect rating, renewal rating, and self-funding.
